My Kampung, My Childhood, My Memories

Last Sunday, me and my family went to Lukut to look for my uncle. He took us to go brunch in Port Dickson.

We came to this Cili Padi @ Pak Lang. The restaurant is running by a Chinese Muslim owner. My uncle knows the owner as we are suki nang (Hainanese dialect: people from a same province in China ; own people). They served fresh cooked meals, Malaysian delights with a touch of Baba and Nyonya. There are two restaurant names in this shop. I am curious that the owner is the same person. I should ask my uncle but forgot.

This modern Hainanese kopitiam interior design is clean and better decorate than the traditional coffee shop.

International clocks are hanging at the entrance of the restaurant.

Coconut Drink. Not so nice.

Singapore Fried Meehoon. We don’t like it. It wasn’t like a Singapore Fried Meehoon but tasted more like a Tomato Fried Meehoon.

Nasi Lemak Biasa. Not bad. We asked for Mata Kerbau egg. You may add chicken if you want.

We also ordered toast. Normally toast is the first to be served because it is easy to make. But it took 30 mins to arrive. Maybe they have forgotten it.

Kaya Butter Toast. So-so only.

Kaya Butter Wholemeal Toast. Also so-so only. My aunt claimed that it was not crispy enough.

After our brunch, we have visited my granny’s kampung. I spent my childhood here since i was born. Then we moved out from this village since 1992. Ever since we moved to Seremban, we have not came back to this place anymore.

It has brought back many childhood memories. Everything still look the same except for the road surface has changed to tar.

Can you see the brick wall over the wild grassland? That is my granny’s home. I think that is the kitchen part.

Everytime when i go to Port Dickson, one thing i mustn’t miss is drink ‘Campur’ aka ABC. Local people called it as Campur. Initially we wanted to go to ABC Senme. Unfortunately it is closed. So we decided to go to another one near PD Waterfront. Anyway, i still prefer ABC Senme. They served best ABC in Port Dickson.

This is how i spent my Sunday with my dearest family last week. It was a fun and meaningful weekend because i got the chance to go back to the village i grew up and experienced the village life again! ❤
