Just Heavenly Cafe @ Bangsar Shopping Complex (BSC)

I was craving for chocolate cake last week. Eric suggested to go to Just Heavenly Cafe in Bangsar Shopping Complex (BSC) for their famous and delicious cakes. Since Joanne is another food’s lover like me, she joined us on that night as well as Dion too. We were chatting, gossiping, laughing while enjoying our favourite cakes and light dinner at Just Heavenly Cafe.

THE RESTAURANT:
Just Heavenly was borne out of a love for baking and a desire to introduce to the city some seriously good cake. Allan Yap and Nigel Skelchy started the company in 2001, baking out of Allan’s mother’s kitchen and then moved to neighbouring premises in Bangsar the next year. Their delicious and stunningly beautiful cakes and desserts found a strong following amongst the discerning palates of KL-lites and within 4 years, a new partner, Ann Lee, and new premises allowed the team to really showcase their talents in other areas such as wedding and event planning.
A Slice Of Heaven, the retail and prêt-a-manger arm of Just Heavenly, followed with outlets opening in quick succession; firstly in Epicure Centre, Damansara Heights in 2007 and then at Jaya One, Petaling Jaya in 2009. In the same year, the coveted cakes moved its first home to Bangsar Shopping Centre, much to the delight of its fans in the area and in 2010, A Slice Of Heaven at Pavilion KL was born. The fourth, at Terrace at Hock Choon, Ampang, served its first slice in November 2011.
Cakes such as Death By Chocolate, or DBC as it is fondly known, Red Velvet, Choc Cheese and Choc Durian have become household names synonymous with superb cakes. Other favourites such as Triple Espresso Brownie, Butter Buttercup and many more tantalising treats are continuously added to their impressive repertoire, with almost all of the offerings available in mini sizes, perfect for parties.

FIRST IMPRESSION:
This is my first time in Just Heavenly. The cafe interior is not that spacious but large enough to surround you with a variety of desserts that leaves one spoilt for choice! It is designed in two sections due to the limited space.

I simply like the cafe simple and white garden themed design. It’s really pleasant to just have cakes or dining in this brightly-lited cafe with comfy cushioned seats.

I’ve yet to try the outlet at Pavilion and Jaya One but I would definitely visit this place again.

SERVICE:
The warm customer service enlivened the experience, and our food came unbelievably fast!

THE FOOD:

The Caesar Salad with Smoked Salmon was superb delicious. The smoked salmon was very fresh. Generous serving of smoked salmon on a bed of Caesar salad and topped with egg which oozed with yolk. Love the oozing of yolk! It did taste as good as it looked!

The Crab Meat Tart flavored with kaffir lime leaves and lemongrass. Nice chunks of minced crab meat combined with some special spices that made it tastes like curry for me.

After finished our entree, we started the dessert with the Lemon Meringue Pie. A tart that creamy and lemony-curd topped with a fluffy meringue. I don’t like the taste and it soggy that made me feel slippery mess! The Soupy filling, soggy crust and meringue that slips right off immediately when it served. The lemonade was too sourly for me.

A light, rose-tinted chiffon sandwiched and topped with Whipped Cream Cheese.
This Red Velvet cake is one slice of happiness and joy that I craved for ever since I first tasted it! I was blown away with their extra moist cream cheese frosting and rose-tinted chiffon. Red Velvet is one of their best selling cake, a crimson chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting. Yes, everyone loves a red velvet!

In Chinese’s saying, the best thing always leave to the last! Finally our dream came true with the most signature cake in this cafe – Death by Choc!!!! This pretty rich and dark chocolate mousse cake with a chocolate genoise base and garnished a chocolate curl. I was attracted to its glossy chocolate exterior. It just looked so exquisite. Pretty presentation after all!
I especially love the cake base which has dark chocolate bits in it. It’s not overly bitter. The chocolate genoise have a tinge of the bitterness present in good quality dark chocolate. I guess that’s why it’s slightly more expensive. The mousses on top has also the right sweetness. I absolutely love this so much! I guarantee it is perfect for those Chocolate Lovers!! I couldn’t believe that I finally found a place that serves really good, moist and very rich chocolatey cake! I was sent straight up to heaven after trying it!!

I even bought the Dealt of Choc back home for my breakfast on the next day!

For the drinks, I can’t remember the name. But it tasted very refreshing and good!

With the dragon fruits blended juice.

THE BILL:
Apologise for not able to provide the total of bill as I have forgotten the price. It was roughly RM150 for four persons with three cakes take-away. Though the prices are a bit higher, the experience is well worth it.
