The outlet first opened for business in November 2010, offering largely Teo Chew dishes.
The idea for the restaurant came about when owner Elaine Goh and her husband, Simon Sim, wanted to preserve the traditional recipes of Elaine’s mum, a Teo Chew who was a great cook. Auntie Sim who has created a boisterous kitchen devoted to traditional Teo Chew cuisine. Located in the vibrant Uptown Damansara.
The huge orange and brown awning from the front of the Teo Chew restaurant was catching our attention when we were looking a place for dinner once we have reached PJ from Penang.
Upon entering the restaurant, our eyes were automatically drawn to the display of their popular braised duck and chicken at the entrance and to the pictures of mouth-watering dishes hung on the walls. Tables are lined from one to another due to the limited space. I am quite particular on the cleanliness every time I go in to each restaurant. I find it here quite hygiene. The restaurant is very busy. If you are lucky, you may get your seat fast otherwise please be patient to wait for your turn. Especially during peak hours.
Staff were pleasant enough to recommend their specials when taking order. Food served quite fast even though the crowd were busy.
I have no idea what to order as it seems like everything here are delicious. I noticed that many customers was having the house most special, Teo Chew Olive Fried Rice so i also ordered. No doubt, the fried rice was so yummy which fried in a well-used wok which is hot enough, the rice came out tasting well-seasoned with an ideal amount of salt and pepper plus the aromatic whiff of olive.
