I met up couple of friends for lunch yesterday. They have suggested to go to the Restoran Weng Soon Jaya (新永顺茶餐室) in USJ17 Subang Jaya. Basically the restaurant is more like a hawker stall set up. The stall that selling pork tripe soup was very easy to spot as it was the busiest. It serves very delicious Lotus Soup (莲藕汤)and Pork Pepper Soup (猪肚汤).
I have ordered a Lotus Soup with rice (RM5). The soup is one of the sweetest I’ve drunk in my life, naturally sweetened by the hours of slow boiling. I love munching on the cooked peanuts which is still quite crunchy after all the simmering. Chicken feet and pork tripe were used as an ingredient to further enhance the taste of the soup. A simple bowl of soup like this reminds me of the wholesome goodness of home-cooked fare.
The Pork Pepper Soup (RM5) has a very strong white pepper taste but it did not overpower the sweetness of the soup. The tripe itself was nicely done and chewy. Unfortunately, I forgot to take the picture.
