We wanted to bring mum for dinner in Pavilion after the book fair in KLCC on Monday. Unfortunately everywhere was packed as it was Buka Puasa time.
We then decided to go Dragon-i Pavilion (龙的传人). The restaurant is always packed most of the time. It is advisable to make a reservation before go.
Having established since 2004 in MalayDragon-i served authentic Chinese cuisine such as Xiao Long Bao (Shanghainese Steam Meat Dumpling), La Mian (hand-pulled noodles) and etc. Dragon-i started its first outlet in Mid Valley Megamall. It is now altogether 9 outlets in Malaysia, 7 in Klang Valley and 2 in Penang.
Xiao Long Bao is one of the most signature dish here. It requires a lot of skills to make a good Xiao Long Bao. From the fillings, stock, sifted flour, kneading skill to fire control during steaming, every single step must be meticulously taken care of. However, we did not order the Xiao Long Bao because he have tried many times.
The deco concept of the restaurant is very oriental. They’ve some pseudo terracotta warriors scattered around the restaurant. You can watch the chefs preparing foods through a glass room near the entrance.
The service was quite slow due to many customers during the peak hour.
Braised peanuts (RM2) were served as appetizers immediately once you sit down. These were standard fare.
The first meal served was Stir Fried Season Bean 干煸肉松四季豆 (RM22) which was quite decent.
Claypot Seafood Tofu 砂煲鼓汁海鲜豆腐 (RM28). The tofu was soft and the prawns are very fresh!
Sze Chuan Sauted Chicken 四川宫保鸡丁 (RM28). It was a bit salty, but i like it. The cashew nuts was crunchy. Despite they added in dried chilies but it doesn’t taste very spicy.
This is Joanne’s favorite – Egg York Bun 奶皇流沙包 (RM7.80). According to her, the custard cream was warm. I did not try because I don’t really like custard.
We also ordered Soya Bean (RM4), Longan Melon Sea Coconut Drink (RM5), Chestnut Drink (RM5), Rice (RM1.50).
Wet towel (RM1) has placed on every table. Total bill is RM133.15 (included taxes). I like how they printed the bill, as it has break down for sales per pax. Which i think it is very convenient for those who are going dutch on that particular meal.
Overall, the food quality was good. Price was above average and service was quite slow due to peak hour.
